NEAR BOYDEN, IA (ABC9)- A 34-Year-Old Boyden man has been seriously injured after an explosion at a hog confinement building on Monday seven miles southwest of Boyden. According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, Scott Mulder was unloading a feeder into a hog building that had sustained damage after a structure fire on Friday. Authorities say the explosion took place in the pit area of the building. 

Mulder was badly burned as a result of the explosion and was transported by ambulance to Sioux Center Hospital before being flown to an Avera-Mckennan Burn Unit in Minneapolis. 

The exact cause of the explosion is still being investigated. Mulder’s condition has not yet been released.
