Man arrested for trying to run over victim at Sloan Kum & Go

A man is in jail after allegedly trying to run another person over in Sloan. 

According to court documents, Andrew Espinoza, 27, of Pierson, Iowa, was a passenger in a car when it became involved in an accident at the Sloan Kum and Go on Saturday around 11:40 a.m. 

Espinoza is said to have gotten out and chased the other driver, who was on phone via a Bluetooth device with Emergency Communication Center. Espinoza allegedly removed the victim’s Bluetooth device from their head. 

Espinoza then reportedly got back in the vehicle in the drivers seat and chased the victim with the car, trying to run them over, before fleeing the scene. 

After being followed by an eye witness, authorities found Espinoza next door to the Salix post office, hiding behind a car trailer in an open garage bay next.

Espinoza was arrested. While searching him before booking, officers found a controlled substance on him. 

Espinoza was charged with aggravated assault, possession of prescription drugs, interfering with emergency communications, and interfering with official acts. He is being Held in the Woodbury County Jail on a bond of $5,000.
