A Hospers man was arrested for driving with a revoked license and getting into a motorcycle accident.
Authorities investigated a report of a motorcycle accident that happened August 5 around 5:10 p.m. on Lily Avenue, roughly four miles southwest of Sheldon, Iowa, according to a release from the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
They Sheriff’s office said that Joel Griffith, 49, of Hospers, Iowa, was driving a 1979 Suzuki GS1000 motorcycle when he hit a low hanging power line. The line was damaged from a storm and suspended across the road, and that part of the road was closed for line repairs when the accident reportedly happened.
Griffith was taken to the Sheldon Hospital for medical treatment. On Monday around 7:55 a.m., the Sheriff’s office arrested him and charged him with operating a vehicle with a revoked license.
The motorcycle sustained about $1,000 of damage.
They believe that alcohol may have been a factor. They say there may be additional charges while they continue to investigate the accident.
