A Westfield man was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly hitting a bicyclist.

The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office say that they received a report Tuesday night at 6:11 p.m. of an accident involving a pickup and bicycle west of Hinton at the intersection of C60 and K30.

No one was at the scene when officers arrived. They later discovered that the pickup driver took the bicyclist, Brent Linn, 59, of Sioux City, to St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City and then left.

Officers later found the pickup driver, Gary Dennehey, 71, of Westfield, at his residence intoxicated and arrested him. While taking him into custody, Dennehey reportedly resisted arrest and made threats.

Dennehey was arrested and charged with OWI 1st offense, interference with official acts, failure to maintain control, and steering too close to a bicyclist, all misdemeanors.
