A forum looks to provide information on voting accessibility for persons with disabilities.

The Sioux City Human Rights Commission and Disabilities Resource Center of Siouxland will co-host two forums on Wednesday, October 24 at the Sioux City Public Museum.

The first session will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. where representatives from the League of Women Voters and Disability Rights Iowa will answer questions and assist individuals with registering to vote.

The second session will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. A representative from the League of Women Voters will be available to assist individuals with voter registration.

Topics at both sessions will include;

  • 300,000 people in Iowa have a disability. Are poll workers ready? What has worked and what needs improvement?
  • Knowing your rights from curbside voting to accessibility from parking lot to poll booth
  • Help on registering to vote, if you are not, and answering questions on any voting topics

Individuals needing accommodating to participate must contact Disabilities Resource Center by Friday, October 19 to request a reasonable accommodation.
