After making sweeping changes to Iowa’s collective bargaining rights for workers, the GOP-led legislature is now considering an overhaul of the workers’ compensation system.
At a press conference at Sioux City’s Public Library downtown, some local attorneys took aim at lawmakers.
They accused republican legislators of continuing the attack on Iowa’s workers by trying to limit benefits to those who are injured on the job.
“We want people to understand what’s at stake and give them an understanding of why they should take action if they want to do something about this bill,” says workers’ compensation attorney Ron Pohlman, who practices in Sioux City.
House Bill 169 is currently being considered by an iowa house subcommittee. More information on the bill can be found here.
