As concerns over the Zika virus continue to grow, blood centers across the nation, including LifeServe Blood Center, are taking extra precautions to ensure safety of local blood supplies.
In addition to taking extra care, LifeServe has been asked to help support Puerto Rico’s blood supply.
Puerto Rico has been heavily effected by the Zika virus, and all of the blood collection in that region have been suspended in effort to prevent further spread.
LifeServe Blood Center supports all blood needs for more than 120 hospitals across the tristate region.
Frequently the center is asked to help fulfill needs across the United States in cities where blood collections are not strong enough to support the demand.
LifeServe is asking for donors to come roll up their sleeves and give a life saving blood donation that can help impact the lives of those locally and globally..
LifeServe Blood Center is urging individuals to donate by scheduling a blood donation appointment. For further information, or to schedule a blood donation appointment, visit www.lifeservebloodcenter.org or call 800.287.4903.
