It doesn’t take much to make a big difference, and that’s why we want to put the spotlight on one way to give back right here in Siouxland.
About a dozen members of the KCAU9 team packed food sacks for the Food Bank of Siouxland over the noon hour.
The food sacks will be used in the Backpack Program which sends shelf-stable foods home with Sioux City kids over the weekend, in case they’re not able to get enough to eat at home.
Workers at the Food Bank of Siouxland tell us the need for this type of assistance can easily get over looked.
“The fact is there are over 11,000 children that do ho hungry and this is a way to kind of help grow more and focus and learn more so this is a real beneficial program to those really in need,” says Tiffany Kissinger of the Food Bank of Siouxland.
It only took us about an hour to pack 600 sacks.
Folks from the food bank say if you want to get a group together, you need at least 10 people.
