SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – A push to legalize sports betting in Iowa continued on Wednesday. The Iowa Senate easily passing the latest version of a bill that would allow for college and professional sports betting in the state.
The bill passed 31-18 with bipartisan support and now heads to the House. Under guidelines of the measure state approved casinos would serve as home to so-called “sports books”. Online mobile sports betting also included in the bill.
The House is expected to consider the bill as early as next week. Sports wagering would be regulated by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission.
