Do you know what to do if you encounter an insurance or investment scam?
The Iowa Insurance Division was in town helping more Sioux Cityans understand how to protect themselves and their money.
Representatives from The Iowa Fraud Fighters held a Q&A luncheon to educate Siouxlanders.
The insurance division says that those most targeted for scams are senior citizens; scammers are hoping to collet their social security and Medicare information.
The division also focused on monitoring credit and what to do if your identity gets stolen.
“As we get older, we’re using our credit less and less. And if you want peace of mind, my suggestion would be to freeze your credit. You don’t have to worry about anybody opening a credit card, getting a loan, or doing anything with your credit,” says Al Perales, investigator for the Iowa Attorney General’s Office.
