Iowa Bill to Crack Down on Underage Parties

Local News
Des Moines, IA (ABC9 News) – A bill making it illegal for landowners to allow minors to drink on their property has won final approval of the Iowa Senate.

The measure originally banned landowners from permitting anyone under 21 to drink, but an amendment lowered the age to 18. First time violations of the law would carry a $200 fine.

Landlords and other property managers who would be unaware of minors drinking are exempt.

The Senate voted unanimously to send the legislation on to the governor.
