The holiday season is just around the corner and Sioux City didn’t let the cold weather slow down the holiday cheer.
On Sunday night, the Holiday Lights parade rolled down Fourth Street and wound through downtown giving parade goers a delightful holiday display of fire trucks, big rigs and a number of colorful holiday-themed floats.
The parade ended with an appearance from Santa, who officially welcomed the holiday season to Sioux City.
After the parade, some Siouxland kids got to tell Santa their holiday wishes almost a month before Christmas.
During the holiday season, Santa will be hanging out at the Howard Johnson Atrium. When kids visit Santa, they can create their own holiday craft projects, enjoy treats made by Mrs. Claus and receive some early presents from Santa’s gift shop. Proceeds from Santa’s House will support St. Luke’s Children’s Miracle Network.
After Sunday’s kick-off, Santa will be available for visits on the following dates:
–Tuesdays: December 1, 8, 15 and 22 from 6-8 p.m.
–Thursdays: December 3, 10 and 17 from 6-8 p.m.
–Saturdays: November 28 and December 5, 12 and 19 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
–Sundays: November 29 and December 6, 13 and 20 from Noon-4 p.m.
There will also be a special needs day for children with emotional, mental or physical challenges on Dec. 8. Unity Point Health Saint Luke’s is sponsoring Santa’s House this year.
