SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – History buffs and train lovers alike got the chance to dine in style at a Sioux City Railroad Museum fundraising event Saturday.
Guests were invited to get dressed up, and enjoy beverages and pastries, all while appreciating the history behind the restored Hiawatha dining car from 1947.
All proceeds from the event went towards educational programming for both children and adults.
“There’s really nothing more romantic than being on a dining cart sipping on tea with your fancy hat, fancy gloves, listening to big band music,” community development manager Caroline Johanes said. “We really just want to create events that get the community excited to come out to the railroad museum.”
Educational programming such as STEAM Camp, “Reading by the Rails”, and Historical Preservation Week were some of the events the proceeds went towards.
