SIOUX CITY, Iowa - Work has officially started on a new hotel being built in downtown Sioux City.
A ground breaking ceremony was held Wednesday morning for the Courtyard by Marriott hotel,
The hotel is part of an overall Convention Center renovation and expansion project.
The new development is expected to bring more activity to the Historic 4th Street.
"This project, the Kinseth project, is exciting for many many different reasons all eyes are on this project, on how it unfolds and how it develops, and the Kinseth group is well aware of that," said Dan Moore of the Sioux City council.
The $22 million, 151 room hotel is expected to be completed by the fall of 2019.
Whereas the renovations of the Convention Center and new parking deck are expected to begin in late July 2018 and be completed in August 2019
