SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – The Gospel Mission held a street medicine event in Sioux City Monday, helping people in Siouxland get the medical help they need and other personal care items like haircuts.
From blood pressure screenings to answering medical questions, volunteers from the medical field came out to help. It’s all to make sure everyone in the community has access to healthcare.
“It’s just meeting the community members where they are and this is a place where they gather for eating times. And it’s an opportunity for healthcare many of them may not reach out for specifically for healthcare providers so it’s us to offer an arm so they can know that it’s a safe place,” medical volunteer Kory Zimney said.
Volunteers helped to make sure all of these services were provided at no cost to anyone who needed it.
