UPDATE: Three weeks after she went missing, police and the FBI say they’ve found the body believed to be that of a missing northeast Nebraska native.
Officials are still on the scene Wednesday evening of where the body was found in rural Clay County, Nebraska.
The FBI, Clay County Sheriff, and Nebraska State Patrol searched through large areas of corn fields for evidence pertaining to Loofe.
Miles of county roads are shut down outside of Clay Center.
Officials would not say what they were searching for, but a helicopter was up looking for quite some time late Wednesday afternoon.
Investigators are still asking the public to come forward with any information about the case.
Randall Thysse with the FBI said, “Yesterday afternoon, December 4th, a body was discovered in rural Clay County. At this time we believe that to be the body of Sydney Loofe pending forensic analysis.”
Lincoln Police Department Chief Jeff Bliemeister said, “We do believe that there is evidence of foul play. We will continue throughout the day through the search and then the subsequent pathology examination determine exactly what that is.”
Two persons of interest in the case remain jailed on a federal hold on unrelated charges.
The pair arrested last week after fleeing to Missouri are Aubrey Trail and Bailey Boswell.
They’ve denied any involvement in ‘foul play’ toward Loofe.
But Bliemeister said the pair from Wilbur continue to be a focus of their investigation.
“We believe that Aubrey Trail and Bailey Boswell were two of the last people to have known to have been with Sydney, prior to her disappearance and that’s why they continue to be persons of interest in this investigation.”
Loofe’s family is asking for the public’s prayers in the wake of their daughter’s death.

Please continue to pray for Sydney and our entire family. May God grant eternal rest unto thee. We love you Sydney.”
There has been no word from the family or law enforcement as to when and where Loofe’s body was recovered. Lincoln police and the FBI have scheduled a news conference for Tuesday morning in Lincoln.
Two persons of interest in the case, Aubrey Trail, 51, and Bailey Boswell, 23 are currently being held in jail on a federal hold. The pair’s arrest was connected to outstanding warrants.
