With only days until Sioux City students return to the classroom, East Middle School is without an assistant principal.
The administrator assigned to the position has unexpectedly resigned.
The district confirmed the resignation of Dawn Stansbury, who has guided Morningside Elementary since it opened in 2015.
According to district spokesperson Mandy Mayo, Mrs. Stansbury declined an assignment, and declined to return to work.
Mayo tells KCAU 9 News that the district just today received this resignation letter from Stansbury. In it, Stansbury says she is resigning “under duress.”
KCAU 9 has confirmed that Stansbury had been reassigned from her elementary assignment to East Middle School where she would have served as assistant principal.
Wednesday morning, the school district said that the administration at Morningside Elementary was set back in July when they hired Jarod Mozer as the new head principal at Morningside Elementary.
