Locally grown produce continues to make it’s way into our daily meal plan but finding ways to prepare that healthy food can be difficult.
That’s why Iowa State University Extension asked folks to “Veg Out” Monday night.
The local produce cooking workshop with an accompanying dinner offering people a chance to learn new cooking techniques as well as share with others, what works best for them when it comes to cooking up fresh produce.
Nutrition and Wellness Specialist Renee Sweers offered up some simple steps that can be used to keep locally-grown fall produce tasting great.
“I think most people knew most of what we talked about but hopefully we inspired folks to try something a little different and make a change or two” said Renee Sweers.
Along with a chicken sandwich, local corn and salad with local tomatoes, onions and other fresh vegetables capped off the night’s dinner, and learning experience.
