Estherville man arrested for sexual abuse of 6-year-old

ESTHERVILLE, Iowa (KCAU) – An Estherville man is in jail for allegedly sexually abusing a 6-year-old.

An Estherville resident reported to police on April 10 that her 6-year-old daughter may have been sexually abused, according to a Thursday release from the Estherville Police Department. The resident said she learned that it may have happened between May 1, 2018, and July 1, 2018.

The Estherville Police Department then forwarded the information to the Iowa Department of Human Services (IDPH). In a joint investigation with the IDPH, the police arrested Angel Hernandez-Gutierrez, 26, of Estherville, on April 25. 

Hernandez-Gutierrez was charged with second-degree sexual abuse, a class B felony. He was later charged with forgery for allegedly falsified his identity to earn employment in November 2018. He is being held in the Emmet County Jail on an ICE detainer.
