Elementary students learn all about wind energy

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – Elementary students from Siouxland had the chance to try their hand at making wind energy.

Kids from Bryant and Loess Hills elementary schools spent part of their Friday morning at Makers Space for the kid wind challenge.

It’s an event that allows youngsters to explore the power of wind and even lets them build and test their own wind turbines.

“So, I like this day because we get to learn new things that we didn’t get to learn at school yet, and it’s just a fun way of learning new things,” said Aubriana from Loess Hills Elementary.

The state of Iowa generates more than 30 percent of its electricity with wind power, ranking second in the United States.
