Two people were hospitalized following a head-on collision early Wednesday morning. Police say a Semi collided with a Toyota4Runner just before 2 A.M. on South Lewis Boulevard.
The 23-year-old female driver was found unconscious and trapped inside of her Toyota. She was cut free by Sioux City Fire Rescue and transported to Mercy medical Center where she was admitted for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
The 56-year-old driver of the Semi was also transported to Mercy Medical Center where he was treated for minor injuries.
Police say the driver of the Toyota crossed the centerline, entering the path of the Semi. Both vehicles then attempted to avoid the collision, but turned the same direction.
The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation. The names of the drivers have not yet been released.
