SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – The semi-annual Re-Event is taking place this weekend.
The Re-Event will collect items that can be recycled, reused, and refurbished. By not throwing the items into the trash, they hope to conserve energy and natural resources and save landfill space.
Batteries and ‘beady” EPS styrofoam blocks can be dropped off for free. The said that egg carton, food container, plates, or cups made from styrofoam won’t be accepted.
Some items will cost a fee which is meant to help cover the cost of dismantling and proper disposal of any harmful materials.
Light bulbs will be collected at a cost of 50 cents each.
The fees for electronic devices will vary. You can refer to the below list for estimates.
Laptops – $5
Televisions – $10
Televisions 45” or larger – $15
Computer Monitors – $5
Tablets – $5
Ink Jet/laser Printers – $5
Fax Machines – $5
Desktop Copiers – $25
Full Size Copiers – $50
Computers/VCR’s – $2
Small Miscellaneous – $1
The city said that other appliances won’t be accepted, but they can be taken to the City’s Citizen’s Convenience Center at 5800 28th Street. They will also not take household hazardous materials. They can be taken to the City’s Citizen’s Convenience Center by appointment.
