SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – A Siouxland college is getting some unexpected publicity, all thanks to a new license plate soon to be available to Iowa drivers.
It is what’s being called the “blackout” plate approved by the Iowa legislature. It features the Dordt College logo and a black and white design. But officials with the Iowa D-O-T say Dordt fans aren’t the only ones showing interest in the vanity license plates.
“We think that people are going to be interested in this. We’ve heard people have bought the Dordt College plate simply because of the look and not because they have an association with the college so we think there will be some customers that will be interested in this,” said Dan Yeh of the Iowa D-O-T.
The new plates are already for sale but won’t be available until July first. As with specialty plates featuring other Iowa colleges and universities, the Dordt “blackout” plate comes with an extra charge.
