The Woodbury County Board of Supervisors has signed an emergency declaration due to flooding throughout the county.
Under Iowa State Statue, the declaration allows for the expenditure of emergency funds from all available sources, invoking of mutual aid agreements and applying to the State of Iowa for assistance.
Thursday, the mayor of Hornick ordered the evacuation of the town after a levee along the West Fork of the Little Sioux River broke. Westwood Community School in Sloan has been set up as a shelter.
The mayor of Moville has also declared a state of emergency.
Woodbury County residents are urged to be aware of hazards in their area.
