Did you get up and walk today? People in all of Iowa’s 99 counties did as part of an initiative to become the healthiest state in the country.
This was the 6th annual city wide walk. A group got together to walk along Perry Creek for 30 minutes. Folks at the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative say this is one of the easiest, cheapest ways to stay healthy.
“Take advantage of the great weather you have, the great trail systems that you have here in the community and just get out and walk!…. It doesn’t have to happen all 30 minutes at the same time, it can be 5 minute increments, 10 minute increments…” says Jami Haberl, Executive Director, Iowa Healthiest State Initiative.
“If I miss a day, I’ll try to make up for it the next day… let’s just stay healthy!” says Dan Moore, Mayor Pro-Tem.
“The walk was nice and the weather… absolutely perfect! So glad we did this” says a participant of the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative.
After the walk, participants had some healthy snacks and water from Hy Vee.
