College radio station dedicated to late Morningside professor

Local News

A $100,000 donation has transformed the way communications students at Morningside College are learning. And where the money came from is even more special.

On Friday, the mass communications department dedicated its newly renovated radio station. The improvements at KMSC are possible thanks to Dr. Mark Heistad, the longtime radio professor who passed away last year after a fight with cancer.

The money he donated also helped pay for new HD cameras and teleprompters for the campus TV station.

“Thanks to Doc, it really lets all of us Mass Comm students be able to get a tape together, and a better resume to send out, and without him, I don’t think we would have the opportunities we’re having now,” says Kaitlyn Polk, a Morningside student.
