SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – Temperatures are slowly climbing and it’ll be summer before we know it and summer temperatures mean blasting air conditioners to fight off that heat.
After a winter of disuse, there are a few things folks need to check before they turn on their A/C for the first time this season.
Both window units and HVAC systems should have their vents cleaned. HVAC systems may need to be professionally checked.
“It will prevent break downs and inconvenience,” said Bruce Kalin, the president of Kalins Indoor Comfort. “Nobody wants to be hot and naturally when that happens, it’s probably on the hottest day of the summer so we can prevent that with maintenance. That works really well.”
Experts also recommend replacing A/C units that are older than 15 years, so that you aren’t left without air conditioning on a sweltering day.
