Visitors to Cherokee’s U-S Post Office Friday morning got quite a shock after a car crashed into the building.

Police say 84 year old Joan Ballantyne of Cherokee was parking in front of the post office when she says her foot slipped off the brake and onto the accelerator.
She was unable to stop causing her to crash through the front door of the building.

Amazingly no one was injured and the post office had only minor damages. Nobody was in the lobby at the time of the incident.

Window of the building had to be boarded up but the office was able to maintain regular business hours.
