The Sioux City Public Water Supply is recommending to boil the water before using for drinking or to use an alternative source.

The Sioux City Public Water Supply had a main break in the distribution system and the system lost pressure overnight.

Due to that water main break, West Middle School and West High School will not have school Thursday.

Also, due to the potential for bacterial contamination, it is being recommended that the water be boiled before using for drinking or cooking or that an alternative source be used.

The limited areas affected is the Casselman St. from W. 19th to W. 32nd going west to Normandy Street, including the 4100 block of Fieldcrest Drive, California Avenue, Kellogg Street, Wadsworth Road, extending north to Bennington Road.

The system has been repaired, repressurized, and bacteria samples will be collected. This advisory is a precaution until bacterial sample results are available.
