A new scam is going around and it’s focusing on your new Medicare card.
There are a few ways to detect a scam and help protect your personal information.
Make sure you dispose of your old card properly, shred or cut it up. Do not just throw it away, there is personal information on that card, including your social security number.
A good indication of a scam is if someone asks you to pay for your new card. Do not do this; it’s free.
If someone calls you claiming to be Medicare, and asks for personal information, do not give it to them.
Scammers use this as a way to gain valuable personal information.
Lastly, don’t let anyone trick you into believing your Medicare Benefits will be canceled. If someone threatens this, hang up
