The Sioux City Art Center is celebrating another milestone. Thursday’s ribbon cutting marked the completion of work at the center’s newest addition, the Gilchrist Learning Center.
Doors to the new area officially open Sunday with free holiday workshops for everyone stopping by.
“From somebody who didn’t grow up with a lot of art background, I’m glad to see that because it certainly improves the quality of life for young people and that’s what we want to be about,” said Mayor Bob Scott.
The $3.5 million dollar project includes a classroom, four studios, and a ceramics area. It is all opens to the public on Sunday.
