A Sioux City man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly threatening a woman who had knowledge of him being involved in a shooting.
Tray Ehlers, 25, of Sioux City was charged with felon in possession of a firearm and a controlled substance violation, both felonies. He was also charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying weapons, assault while displaying a weapon, and tampering with a witness.
Police confirmed with KCAU 9 that Ehlers was involved in the Friday shooting in the area of West 2nd Street and Leonard Street. The victim of the shooting was reported to be in stable condition.
According to court documents, Ehlers was at a residence on Prospect Street in Sioux City Tuesday around 2:30 a.m. when he pointed a gun at a woman. He allegedly told her something similar to “keep her mouth shut.” The victim allegedly had knowledge of the Friday shooting.
Officers were reportedly looking for Ehlers later in the day around 5:25 p.m. when they located him in a car on Winona Way and took him into custody. He was found with brass knuckles and a container with syringes and two bags weighing a total of 1.9 grams of a white crystal substance that tested as methamphetamine. Another bag was found in his pocket.
In the car Ehlers was found in, police reported that they found a digital scale and used marijuana and meth pipes. A shotgun shell was also found in the back seat. A burnt roach was also found with what appeared to be marijuana.
After obtaining a search warrant, police allegedly found texts of Ehlers selling narcotics.
Ehlers allegedly told police that “his whole life and everything he owns” is in the vehicle.
He is being held in the Woodbury County Jail on a bond of $20,000.
