Archer, Iowa man accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend

O’BRIEN COUNTY, Iowa (KCAU) – An Archer, Iowa man is arrested after allegedly kidnapping his ex-girlfriend.

Shortly before 2:30 p.m. Friday afternoon, the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report that a woman was taken against her will and forced into a car near Neeble Park in Hartley.

Witnesses say the man had allegedly left the Park in at a high rate of speed with the woman in his car.

A couple of hours later, an Iowa State Trooper located the vehicle, and the female victim was recovered.

Upon further investigation, police say the victim was Banta’s ex-girlfriend and that they had recently broken up.

37-year-old Justin Michael Banta was taken into custody and transported to the O’Brien County Jail.

He is charged with Third Degree Kidnapping, a class C Felony; and misdemeanor charges of Domestic Abuse Assault 1st Offense and Driving While Suspended.
