Onowa, IOWA - From the Ragbrai bike race to a new drag racing track, the city of Onawa must has a serious need for speed.
The old Onawa airport has been transformed into a fast and furious racing and events complex-- with the races set to take place on the old runway. Their grand opening was scheduled for last Friday, but was canceled due to poor weather conditions. With a new start date in the books, president, Phil Schroeder is happy with all the work put into the track.
"The guys have worked really hard out here on the race track, they put a lot of hours in trying to make this a very nice place and I think we're getting there," says Schroeder.
The new opening day is scheduled for this upcoming Friday at 5pm.
And Saturday will premiere the first "fun night" event featuring a special $10 to race or watch!
