Three northeast Nebraska communities are without power for the night.
Nebraska Public Power District official Matt Becker said that the communities of Atkinson, Emmett, and Butte have been without power since Friday night and won’t get power back until Sunday.
The NPPD will be moving portable transmitters to Atkinson and Emmett and a portable generator to Butte. Due to weather conditions though, the NPPD won’t begin the transport of the portable units until Sunday 6:00 a.m. and will restore power later in the day.
The outages were caused by weather impacting a sub-transformer and other utility poles in the area. They expect it to take a week to make repairs.
The NPPD will continue to restore power throughout the state as they can.
There are about 1,600 customers in Nebraska without power, about 1,300 coming from those three communities.
