Storm Lake police have arrested 10 people as a part of a yearlong investigation.

The Storm Lake Police Department announced that the investigation called Operation Winter Blues included “multiple controlled purchases of illegal drugs, illegal seizures and many hours of surveillance.”

The arrests over the last month all involve felony charges.

The Storm Lake Police Department say they were assisted by the Buena Vista and Cherokee County Sheriff’s Departments. They also anticipate more arrests as the investigation is ongoing.
 

The details of the arrests can be found below:

On November 28, 2017 Yunan Nyama, age 20 of Storm Lake was arrested and charged with Gathering Where Methamphetamine if Used (class D felony). He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $5000.00 bond.

On December 18, 2017 police arrested Fernando Veliz, age 41 of Storm Lake and charged him with 3 counts of Delivery of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine (class C felony). He was booked into the county jail on a $10,000.00 bond.

On December 20, 2017 the SLPD charged Jesus Diaz, age 20 of Storm Lake with Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine With Intent to Deliver (class C felony). He was being held in the county jail on an unrelated matter. The warrants were served at that location and he was held on a $10,000.00 bond.

On December 19, 2017 the SLPD arrested Kang Char, age 24 and Nyadil Deng, age 21 both of Alta, IA on SLPD warrants charging them both with Delivery of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana (class D felony). They were both booked into the county jail on a $5000.00 bond each.

On the afternoon of Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at approximately 1:15pm the SLPD arrested Zachary Kraft, age 24 of Storm Lake after he allegedly assaulted his roommate by grabbing the person and restricting the victim’s airway.

Kraft was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault – Strangulation (aggravated misdemeanor) and Possession of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana Wax (serious misdemeanor).

Kraft was also wanted in connection with an ongoing drug investigation and SLPD investigators further charged him with 3 counts of Delivery of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine (class C felony). He was held in the county jail without bail.

On December 21, 2017 SLPD charged Jonaz Maldonado, age 20 of Alta, IA with 1 count of Delivery of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine (class C felony).

Maldonado was being held in the Cherokee County Jail on an unrelated charge and was served with the warrant at that location. He’s being held on a $10,000.00 bond.

On December 21, 2017 SLPD arrested Lisa Snedeker, age 33 and her mother, Judy Snedeker, age 57 both of Storm Lake in connection with the alleged illegal sale of prescription drugs.

Lisa Snedeker was charged with 2 counts of Delivery of a Class II Controlled Substance (class C felony).

Judy Snedeker was charged with Conspiracy to Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substances (class C felony).

Both women were booked into the county jail on a $10,000.00 bond each.

On December 21, 2017 police arrested Chan Khaoorn, age 34 of Storm Lake and charged him with Delivery of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine (class B felony).

Khaoorn was booked into the county jail on a $20,000.00 bond.
