SIOUX CITY, Iowa - Two local organizations came together today to help fight homelessness in Siouxland.
For the second year, 100+ Women and Men Who Care came together in a joint donation to a local charity, this year choosing the Siouxland Sleep Out to receive $17,800.
The Sleep Out is an annual event that supports a number of homeless services in the area.
Organizers saying a donation this size will go a long way.
"It will go to five area agencies that support the homeless and it will help to keep the lights on and keep food on the table and provide support services to our homeless population," says Cindy Wood with the Mental Health Association of Siouxland, which puts on the Sleep Out each year.
This year's event is set for Friday, November 2nd at Lewis and Clark Park.
