Iowa lawmakers looking at new bill to ban abortions

Iowa News

Iowa lawmakers are pushing ahead with what some call “the ultimate abortion ban.” It’s a bill that would declare that life begins at conception.

The bill states a person is a living human being from the moment of conception until natural death.

Lawmakers who oppose the bill say they’re concerned it has no exceptions for rape, incest or child sexual abuse.

The proposed bill passed through a Senate subcommittee last week. The full Senate is now expected to discuss it.

This bill isn’t the only abortion bill moving through the Iowa Statehouse. More than half of the Iowa Senate has already signed on to a constitutional amendment that declares there’s no right to an abortion in the Iowa constitution.
