$12 billion in aid for farmers is causing anxiety for some Iowans waiting for their checks.
“If we knew when we were getting it and how much, it makes a difference in how we allocate our acres to which crop,” said Rolland Schnell of Jasper County.
President Trump tweeted Monday that help will be on its way soon.
Today I am making good on my promise to defend our Farmers & Ranchers from unjustified trade retaliation by foreign nations. I have authorized Secretary Perdue to implement the 2nd round of Market Facilitation Payments. Our economy is stronger than ever–we stand with our Farmers!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 17, 2018
Schnell says he received $20,000 in just a few weeks after applying for aid.
Farmers have until January 15, 2019, to apply for the first round of aid.
