DES MOINES, Iowa (WOI) – Speeders have been getting pulled over all over Iowa, going more than 100 miles an hour in some cases.
One driver was pulled over by a state trooper this week in the Des Moines area for going 141 miles an hour in a 65-speed zone. State troopers have seen an uptick in the number of people driving way too fast, many going 30 to 40 miles an hour over the speed limit.
The ticket for speeding this much over the limit can be in the hundreds of dollars. Depending on the circumstances, a speeding violation can lead to a “reckless driving” conviction. Generally, a conviction carries up to 30 days in jail and/or $25 to $625 in fines.
