An emaciated donkey has been recovering for the past month and half with the help of Boone County animal workers and ISU vets.
According to a Facebook post on the Boone Area Humane Society’s page, the donkey was found lying in a ditch in Boone County in November.
“When we got to him his body temperature was so low it didn’t even register on a thermometer. He was rushed to Iowa State Vet Med Hospital and admitted to the ICU unit,” said the Boone Area Humane Society.
After a month at ISU Donkey was released and he continues his recovery at the shelter. He still is trying to gain body weight; he already has a potential adopter lined up.
