Iowa News

Preliminary autopsy results on the body found in Poweshiek County was confirmed to be Mollie Tibbetts.

The Iowa State Medical Examiner said that the preliminary autopsy conducted on Wednesday say that the manner of death was a homicide from “multiple sharp force injuries.”

They say more may be found in further examination, but autopsy reports other that cause and manner of death are confidential under Iowa law, the Division of Criminal Investigation say.

Mollie Tibbetts went missing on July 18 while jogging.

Cristhian Bahena Rivera has been charged in the Iowa District Court for Poweshiek County for the first-degree murder of Tibbetts. He reportedly told law enforcement that he jogged with her before “blocking his memory,” and then taking the body to a cornfield.

Rivera appeared in court Wednesday and his bond has been set to $5 million cash-only. His next court appearance is set for August 31.
