Federal rule could cut Title X funding to clinics that provide abortions

A new rule federal rule could impact Title X funding, a program that provides low-income families access to things like birth control, STD and cancer screenings.

Four million Americans depend on this program, but a new rule in Washington, D.C. could cut off funding to those clinics because they provide abortions or abortion referrals.

Those against the bill say this would complicate what doctors can and cannot say to their patients about reproductive health care, but White House counsel Kellyanne Conway says the rule is simple

“Really just says to the abortion clinics you have to physically separate, physically and financially separate you “family planning services” from your abortion services,” Conway said.

Some Democratic lawmakers are already expressing opposition. The rule will likely be challenged in court.
