COROLLA, N.C. (WAVY) — Dramatic video from a doorbell camera shows a vacation home in Corolla going up in flames early Tuesday morning.
Officials with Corolla Fire And Rescue said crews were called to Coral Lane just before 2:45 a.m. The house was fully engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived.
A video shows the flames from a nearby house.
Heavy rain Tuesday morning helped firefighters get the blaze under control within an hour, officials said.
The house was unoccupied since it was a vacation home, and the owner hasn’t been there since October.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire, but officials noted it could have been caused by a lightning strike from the Tuesday morning weather conditions.
