Iowa gubernatorial Candidate Fred Hubbell was in Sioux City Thursday on his statewide tour called “Iowa’s Medicaid Stories”.
Hubbell met with providers at “Opportunities Unlimited” to discuss the effect they are feeling from Medicaid’s privatization.
Hubbell said over 40,000 Iowans have had their services denied or reduced and providers have been forced to close due to delayed payments.
“The system is broken,” said Hubbell. “It’s not working particularly for the long-term support services. Providers like these folks and we need to move away from having our long-term support service providers in the manage care organization so we can take care of our patients and take care of our providers and give the benefits and support people need.”
Hubbell also made a stop in Council Bluffs, along with Winterset.
