NIH halts hydroxychloroquine trial

Health

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KCAU) – The National Institute of Health is stopping its 470-adult patient trial of the drug hydroxychloroquine saying it is not beneficial to coronavirus patients.

On Saturday, the agency announced that a data and safety monitoring board had met and determined there was no harm in using the drug but it doesn’t help people hospitalized with the virus.

Earlier this week, the FDA revoked emergency use authorization for hydroxychloroquine to treat hospitalized patients.
