Sophie Erber

Sophie is excited to join the news team here at KCAU! Before arriving in Siouxland, Sophie co-anchored the evening news in Marquette, Michigan on WLUC — TV6 and FOX U.P. every weeknight since 2014, alongside veteran anchors on the Early, Tonight and Late newscasts.

Sophie has a B.A from the University of Tampa in communications with a minor in journalism and a masters degree in journalism & media studies from University of South Florida – St. Petersburg. There, she was a graduate assistant and liaison for the Edward R. Murrow Program for international journalists.

Sophie’s love for journalism began in high school. She anchored the school’s morning newscast “VTV” daily (Venice Television) and also worked as a sports reporter for the Sarasota Education Channel’s program “Game-On Profiles”.

As an undergrad in Tampa, Sophie never missed the opportunity to perform in dance concerts and theatrical productions. She was also a staff writer and photojournalist for the award-winning student-run newspaper ‘The Minaret’. Sophie also interned at two of Tampa’s top news stations. She was an investigative reporting intern at WFTS — ABC Action News and an i-team/producing intern at WFLA – NBC, NewsChannel8.

When the Republican National Convention came to Tampa in August 2012, ABC chose Sophie to be one of its interns and she was sent out for undercover work with their investigative and political teams.

She is a die-hard baseball fan and enjoys going out to live sporting events. She also likes knitting, baking all kinds of goodies (sweet and savory!), and dancing or choreographing tap, ballroom and jazz.

Sophie is a sushi aficionado and considers herself a foodie, so if you have any recommendations for places to eat, drop her an email today!
