Kayla joined the KCAU 9 News team in February 2019 as the evening producer. She graduated from Morningside College (now Morningside University) in 2016 with a B.A. in Mass Communications and a minor in Psychology. Kayla graduated North High School in 2013. She never really thought about going into news producing after college, but she did know she wanted to be a writer or journalist for a long time. kayla doesn’t remember what exactly made her love the news, but she remembers watching the local news every morning before school.
Kayla has lived in Sioux City since 2008, when her family moved a small town in North Dakota. She also spent some of her life on a farm, where she developed a love of animals. She also loves board games of all kinds, from classics like mancala to silly games like Pictionary. She likes to collect board games that are no longer in print. When she’s not at work, Kayla likes to spend time with her cat and fiancé or with her family.
