Jake Joined the KCAU 9 news team as sports director in June of 2019.
Growing up just outside of Cleveland, Ohio Jake always knew he wanted to work in sports, starting with his high school broadcasting class, WEHS. Jake got his start shooting highlights as a high school freshman when he was the varsity basketball team’s manager, and recorded each game for film study.
After transitioning into his school’s broadcasting class, Jake moved on to the University of Toledo, where he majored in Communication, with a specialization in broadcasting. During his time at UT, Jake worked for the athletic department as a videographer and reporter, helping cover any and all sports the school had going on.
After graduation, Jake began his career as a photographer and editor for the station he grew up watching as a kid in Cleveland, WJW. After 9 months, however, Jake received the opportunity of a lifetime to start his on air career working as a sports reporter in Helena, Montana. Jake spent two and a half years covering high school and college sports, before moving to Billings, Montana to become the weekend sports anchor at KULR, where he spent three years learning from Montana sports broadcasting legend, Chris Byers. But when he Midwest came calling, Jake couldn’t resist coming back to be the newest member of the Sportszone.
When Jake isn’t working, he’s usually playing with his dogs, going to the movies, or playing games. He’s really excited to explore Siouxland, and dive head first into the local sports scene, from Morningside, to USD, to Cherokee, and Creighton, Jake wants to be there for the biggest moments in the Siouxland sports world.
