When I was in high school, I was living in Hull, Iowa but attending school in the neighboring town of Rock Valley because that’s where I grew up and really wanted to graduate alongside my friends. I listened to a lot of early morning radio during my 15-minute drive to school and it really got me hooked on media. Although radio is the root of my passions, being able to work in the industry I have always loved is exciting.
I attended Western Iowa Tech Community College where I received an Associate’s Degree in Broadcasting and Multi-Media Journalism and was lucky enough to be one of the first students to be a part of the program. During my time there I spent a lot of my time producing for the campus news shows as well as occasional DJing for the campus’s radio station. I believe these experiences strengthened my abilities to write news and bring valuable content to readers. After graduating from Western Iowa Tech in 2020, I took some time away from journalism to get my bearings and finally after a year and a half after getting my degree I have happily accepted an opportunity to dip my toes into the career I have worked so hard to be a part of.
When I’m not working, I love spending my free time reading, writing, playing Dungeons and Dragons, or simply spending a lazy afternoon hibernating. I love almost anything fantasy, the crazier the better.
I look forward to providing news that matters to the community I’ve grown to be a part of the past few years.
